HOLISTIC CARE MODALITIES VOM Chiropractic - A Different Approach VOM is a non-surgical approach to lameness and certain internal organ conditions. It is a painless, harmless instrument-based modality. Click here for a detailed document explaining VOM Examples of problems treatable with VOM: * Hip Dysplasia Nutritional Intervention - Back to Nature If it is true that we humans are what we eat, then it is also true for our pets. Despite extravagant claims by pet food commercials, I still believe the best diet for our pets is as close to nature as possible. I support raw food diets for those with the means and energy to provide it. Good quality canned and dry food, with no preservatives, whole grains, and vegetables are also more than adequate. In addition, I recommend whole food supplements to help ameliorate certain disease conditions. Whole food concentrates offer the benefits of a particular vitamin plus all of its co-factors and enzymes. Consequently, your pet will require a lower concentration, compared with manufactured vitamins and supplements. Homotoxicology/Homeopathy - Like Cures Like Homotoxicology/Homeopathy is based on the idea that substances that cause certain symptoms in a healthy pet can also cure those same symptoms in a sick pet. The remedy is taken in an extremely diluted form, which then addresses the cause and treats all symptoms as one. It is a natural, extremely effective system of treatment that works in harmony with one’s immune system. Western Herbs - Many Actions Many of our original medicines came from herbs. Herbs can have significant impact on disease without adverse side effects that plague use of traditional medicines. We are used to the notion that one drug equals one action in the body. With herbs, however, one herb equals many actions. For instance, I use Olive leaf extract as an anti-fungal support in Valley Fever, and as an anti-bacterial and anti-viral agent. Hair Analysis - Testing Mineral Levels Hair analysis helps us know levels of minerals at a cellular level. Hair analysis is the most accurate indicator of mineral loss or excess, which affects almost every enzymatic process. Symptoms of mineral imbalances: hind leg weakness, inability to get up, digestive upsets, hyper excitability, seizures, and bladder stones. By supplementing the minerals, we can correct the imbalance and improve the condition. Bach Flower Essences - Soothing Dr. Bach discovered that certain flower essences could be used to great advantage in treating certain emotional problems in people. They can also be used effectively in animals. A lengthy questionnaire about your pet’s behavior helps to focus on its particular emotional distress and ensure the appropriate essence will be used.
